Our user lab features:
- Five rooms configured to test everything from hardware and software to full-scale interiors for office and home environments.
- Private intake rooms and a medical exam table for clinical consultations (for studies that have a medical device focus).
- Available remote access for software usability testing, which opens up recruiting to long distance and international participants.

Welcome to the Battelle uLAB
The Battelle uLAB is located in Building 3 of Battelle’s campus in Columbus, Ohio.
Battelle uLAB Lobby
The Battelle uLAB lobby is provided for participants to check in with our lab coordinator prior to beginning their user research session.
Waiting Area
The waiting area is set aside for participants to read through study documents and wait for their user research session to start.
Testing/Focus Group Room
The uLAB has configurable rooms that can be customized to conduct various user research, from contextual medical scenarios to consumer focus groups.
Testing/Focus Group Room
Each testing room has a one-way mirror with curtains, video cameras in each corner for optimal visibility, and appliance options such as fridges and hand-washing sinks.
Observation Room
The observation room is directly behind two study rooms, complete with independent audio controls, tablets with video live stream, and a private client entrance.
Client Lounge
The client lounge is separated from the observation room, and we provide complimentary refreshments and WIFI access.
Software Usability Testing
A separate room is configured to conduct software usability tests, both onsite and remotely. This private room can also be used for informed consent.
Private Intake Rooms
The uLAB has two private participant intake rooms, with one room equipped with an examination table for clinicians to conduct physical exams prior to a user research session.
